526.1696d Procaine penicillin G-novobiocin for intramammary infusion. Specifications: For dry cows: 200,000 units penicillin G procaine and 400 milligrams of novobiocin as novobiocin sodium Conditions of use: Cattle (dry cows) Amount: 10 milliliters in each quarter at time of drying off. Indications: Treatment of subclinical mastitis caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae. Limitations: For udder instillation in dry cows only. Do not use less than 30 days prior to calving. Milk from treated cows must not be used for food during the first 72 hours after calving. Treated animals must not be slaughtered for food for 30 days following udder infusion. |

Tolerances for residues of novobiocin are established at 0.1 part per million in milk from dairy animals and 1 part per million in the uncooked edible tissues of cattle, chickens, turkeys, and ducks. Tolerances are established for residues of penicillin and the salts of penicillin in food as follows: a. In cattle: 0.05 part per million (negligible residue) in the uncooked edible tissues b. In chickens, pheasants, quail, swine, and sheep: zero in the uncooked edible tissues c. In milk or any processed food in which milk has been used: zero d. In eggs: zero e. In turkeys: 0.01 part per million in the uncooked edible tissues |
