520.445a Chlortetracycline bisulfate/sulfamethazine bisulfate soluble powder. Specifications: Each pound contains chlortetracycline bisulfate equivalent to 102.4 grams of chlortetracycline hydrochloride with sulfamethazine bisulfate equivalent to 102.4 grams of sulfamethazine. Conditions of use: Swine Amount: 250 milligrams of chlortetracycline with 250 milligrams of sulfamethazine per gallon of drinking water. Indications: Prevention and treatment of bacterial enteritis; aid in the reduction of the incidence of cervical abscesses; aid in the maintenance of weight gains in the presence of bacterial enteritis and atrophic rhinitis. Limitations: Not to be used for more than 28 consecutive days. As sole source of chlortetracycline and sulfonamide. |

Tolerances are established for the sum of tetracycline residues in tissues of beef cattle, nonlactating dairy cows, calves, swine, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and duck or 2 parts per million in muscle, 6 parts per million in liver, and 12 parts per million in fat and kidney. A tolerance is established for residues of chlortetracycline in eggs of 0.4 part per million. A tolerance of 0.1 part per million is established for negligible residues of sulfamethazine in the uncooked edible tissues of chickens, turkeys, cattle, and swine. |
