558.155 Chlortetracycline, procaine penicillin, and sulfathiazole. Specifications: Type A medicated articles: Chlortetracycline hydrochloride 20 grams per pound sulfathiazole 20 grams per pound, and procaine penicillin equivalent to penicillin 10 grams per pound. Chlortetracycline hydrochloride 40 grams per pound sulfathiazole 20 grams per pound, and procaine penicillin equivalent to penicillin 10 grams per pound. Type B and Type C medicated feeds: Pre-starter and Starter feeds (up to 6 weeks postweaning) Grower and Finisher Feeds (6 - 16 weeks post-weaning) Conditions of use: Swine (Prestarter and starter) Amount: Chlortetracycline, 100 grams per ton of feed plus penicillin, 50 grams per ton of feed plus sulfathiazole, 100 grams per ton of feed. Indications: For increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency in animals up to 6 weeks postweaning. Maintenance of weight gains in the presence of atrophic rhinitis; reduction of the incidence of cervical abscesses; treatment of bacterial swine enteritis (salmonellosis or necrotic enteritis caused by Salmonella choleraesuis and vibrionic dysentery). Limitations: For swine raised in confinement (dry-lot) or on limited pasture. Tolerances are established for the sum of tetracycline residues in tissues of beef cattle, nonlactating dairy cows, calves, swine, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and duck or 2 parts per million in muscle, 6 parts per million in liver, and 12 parts per million in fat and kidney. A tolerance is established for residues of chlortetracycline in eggs of 0.4 part per million. A tolerance of 0.1 part per million is established for negligible residues of sulfathiazole in the uncooked edible tissues of swine. Tolerances are established for residues of penicillin and the salts of penicillin in food as follows: a. In cattle: 0.05 part per million (negligible residue) in the uncooked edible tissues b. In chickens, pheasants, quail, swine, and sheep: zero in the uncooked edible tissues c. In milk or any processed food in which milk has been used: zero d. In eggs: zero e.
