522.1183 Iron hydrogenated dextran injection. Specifications: Each milliliter contains 100 milligrams of elemental iron stabilized with a low molecular weight hydrogenated dextran and 0.5 percent phenol as a preservative Conditions of use: Swine (baby pigs) Amount: Administer intramuscularly 100 milligrams at 2 to 4 days of age. Indications: For the prevention of iron deficiency anemia. Limitations: No limitations are included in the CFR for this species when using this product in this amount. Amount: Administer intramuscularly 100 milligrams. Treatment may be repeated in 10 days. Indications: For the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. Limitations: No limitations are included in the CFR for this species when using this product in this amount. NAS/NRC status: Use of this drug has been NAS/NRC reviewed and found effective.
