Specifications: Each milliliter contains the equivalent of 100 milligrams of tetracycline hydrochloride.

Conditions of use:

Dogs

Amount: 25 milligrams per pound of body weight per day in divided doses every 6 hours.

Indications: For treatment of infections caused by organisms susceptible to tetracycline hydrochloride, such as bacterial gastroenteritis due to E. coli and urinary tract infections due to Staphylococcus species and E. coli.

Limitations: Continue treatment until the temperature has been normal for 48 hours. Not for use in food-producing animals. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Cats

Amount: 25 milligrams per pound of body weight per day in divided doses every 6 hours.

Tolerances

Tolerances are established for the sum of residues of the tetracyclines including chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, and tetracycline, in tissues of calves, swine, sheep, chickens, and turkeys, as follows:

a. 2 parts per million (ppm) in muscle. b. 6 ppm in liver. c. 12 ppm in fat and kidney.
