558.500 Ractopamine Approvals: Type A medicated articles: 9 grams of ractopamine hydrochloride per pound Labeling: Type B and Type C swine feeds shall bear the following: Ractopamine may increase the number of injured and/or fatigued pigs during marketing. "Not for use in breeding swine." No increased benefit has been shown when ractopamine concentrations in the diet are greater than 4.5 g/ton. Conditions of Use Finishing swine Amount 4.5 to 9 grams ractopamine per ton in combination with tylosin 40 Indications: For increased rate of weight gain, improved feed efficiency, increased carcass leanness and for prevention of swine dysentery (vibrionic). Limitations: Feed continuously as sole ration until market weight following the use of tylosin at 100 grams per ton for at least 3 weeks. Feed in a complete ration containing at least 16 percent crude protein for the last 45 to 90 lbs of gain prior to slaughter to finishing swine weighing not less than 150 lbs. Amount 4.5 to 9 grams ractopamine per ton in combination with tylosin 100 Indications: For improved feed efficiency, increased carcass leanness; for prevention and/or control of porcine proliferative enteropathies (ileitis) associated with Lawsonia intracelluraris; and for prevention of swine dysentery (vibrionic). Limitations: Feed continuously as sole ration for 21 days. Feed continuously as sole ration for at least 3 weeks followed by tylosin at 100 grams per ton until market weight. Feed in a complete ration containing at least 16 percent crude protein for the last 45 to 90 lbs of gain prior to slaughter to finishing swine weighing not less than 150 lbs. |
