What does my dog have balls sticking out of her ears ?

my dog has to big hard balls sticking out of of both ears . what are they and how can i get them out .

  1. I own a kennel and a dog grooming shop and have seen something like what you describe.

    Basically, it is big lumps of ear wax and debris mattted into fur. It looks like big hard balls blocking the ear canal. If that is the case you are going to have to use clippers, combs and ear cleaner to get it off. Best to go to the vet, maybe the local dog grooming shop can help.

    You are going to have to clean those ears with something like Chlorhexiderm or MalAcetic Otic. Both are available over the counter at the vet or a farm /pet supply company. Once you get that stuff out of the way then you can determine the extent of the infection. Cleaning them might be enough. Get some Otomax at the vet. This dog should be seen by the vet once you get the ears cleaner; the vet can do all the cleaning too if you want. I'm just trying to save you some money.

    I don't mean to be mean, but, Jeez, have this dog groomed regularly and keep this from happening in the first place. A decent groomer will do a cursory health check everytime she grooms the dog and can keep these things from spiraling out of control. She will clean the ears and clipper the hair around the ear canal opening everytime she bathes your dog. Is your dog covered with mattted hair, as well?
